In September 2004, Pittaro published his first article in the Academic Dean Journal titled, “From Cellblock to Classroom: The Transition from Helpless to Helpful.”

Pittaro is the co-author / co-editor of “Crimes of the Internet,” an edited volume of articles written by the world’s leading criminologists on internet-related criminal activity. The book is co-authored/edited with Dr. Frank Schmalleger, the industry leader in Criminal Justice and Criminology textbooks. The text is scheduled for release in February 2008.

Pittaro recently authored the nation’s single, most comprehensive academic reference guide for criminal justice students, a one-stop resource guide. The reference guide was released to the public in June 2007 through BarCharts, Inc. Further, Pittaro has also authored a chapter entitled, “Childhood Bullying: A Psychosocial Exploration” which will be published (2008) in a forthcoming book titled, “An International Perspective on Crime and Justice.”

His article on “Cyberstalking: A Review of Online Predatory Behavior” will be published in the July 2007 volume of the International Journal of Cyber Criminology http://www.cybercrimejournal.co.nr/.

He assisted the copyeditor at Wadsworth / Thomson publishing to help edit Jack Dempsey’s forthcoming book (2007), “Introduction to Private Security.” His article on “Weakened Social Bonds and School Violence: Is There a Relationship” was recently accepted for publication in the International Journal of Criminal Justice Sciences.
